B2i – Self development for Business Owners

Micro businesses tend to adopt the character of the individual owner. Even where there are partner directors, the business can reflect their current operational style, rather than making specific intentions relating to business ethos, values and ‘branding’.

B2i ‘Business to Individual’ recognises that for a business to change, the individual may want to change – for more clients, taking on more staff, even making business more fun…what is it you want? What do you want for your business?

You can use this website to record and comment on your goals – never again will you lose that piece of paper that recorded them last time you thought about them!

Do come along to B2i Focus Group to air your goals with ike-minded individuals and be supported to address challenges, and ‘make change happen’. (Next meeting 11Jul 2011)

To use the website……

  1. Apply:  get a codename and page  – no need to go public with your goals! In fact you can use code-words for your goals too! (As long as you remember what they mean!)
  2. Ask Shirley to put your goals online (and later status/updates)
  3. Comment on other people’s goals to support/sympathise/strengthen/suggest

Need help with your goals?

  1. Decide: what do you want to change?
  2. Define: a goal to start to make that change today. State it in the positive, as though the change has happened –‘I am an exciting individual and my business is exciting’
  3. SMARTen : add detail to your goals

e.g My marketing  is fun and successful

Specific:  Run an ‘exciting’ marketing campaign every quarter. Get a 10% response or change campaign.

Measurable: # responses, size of customer database size

Achievable: Every quarter OK (Really want to increase database by 20% every quarter though!)

Realistic: OK. We and our customers would be  happy with it.

Timed: 1st one to be achieved in 2 months time (Gives month to start thinking of next one).
